Conserv FS is working on a major expansion which will more than double storage capacity and better serve customers in the Rockford , Illinois , area more efficiently .
The groundbreaking for the Caledonia Service Center happened over the summer , with updates to include a new 6,000-ton dry fertilizer building , crop protection products warehouse , and one-million-gallon bulk liquid fertilizer storage tank .
Both the dry fertilizer and the liquid facility will contain automated systems integrated with ordering , operations , and accounting software providing a greatly streamlined process and improved flow of information to the customer . The new facility is expected to be completed in 2023 .
“ At Conserv FS we are committed to serving the farmers of today while planning for the future and the needs of the next generation of farmers ,” says Conserv FS General Manager Dave Swigart . “ We ’ ve been serving agriculture for nearly 100 years and this new project at our Caledonia facility demonstrates our commitment to the future of agriculture in our territory .”
This project comes on the heels of another similar large upgrade project Conserv FS completed in October 2021 at its Waterman , Illinois , location .
“ We appreciate GROWMARK ’ s commitment to improving the supply chain for customers across the System ,” adds Swigart . “ Conserv believes taking part in the infrastructure stock redemption program designed to drive investments that allow the entire supply chain to operate more efficiently , is crucial to helping feed and fuel the world .”
